Automotive Service Technology
The Automotive Service Technology program at Chisholm Trail Technology Center is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the fast-paced and ever-evolving automotive industry. This two-year program follows standards established by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and provides students with rigorous, hands-on training using modern diagnostic and repair equipment.
Students gain real-world experience in a fully equipped shop environment, working on both student-based projects and live customer vehicles. The curriculum covers all major automotive systems, including brakes, steering and suspension, electrical and electronic systems, engine performance, heating and air conditioning, and transmission repair. Training progresses from foundational concepts to advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting, with a strong emphasis on safety, precision, and professional readiness.
As part of the program, students have the opportunity to take eight entry-level ASE certification tests, laying the groundwork for full ASE certification. After completing the program and gaining two years of relevant work experience, graduates are eligible to apply for ASE Certified Technician status—an industry-recognized credential that opens the door to a wide range of career opportunities in dealerships, repair facilities, and fleet service operations.
